Immaculate Conception Grade School - Grade 6 - View photo of Laura Bedore Nomination Reason: Laura Bedore is one of the most compassionate, dedicated teachers I’ve ever met. All three of my children had her and hands down, says she was the best teacher they’ve had. She helped us so much through the diagnosis of ADHD for our son, finding resources, setting us in the right direction for help, all while helping him understand the need for help doesn’t mean you are not smart and can be successful. I will get forever grateful to Mrs. Bedore.

Clinton Elementary - Grade 2 - View her photo - Nomination Reason: I am a mother of 3. I decided to go back to school in the Fall of 2019. At that time I was a mother to a 6 year old, a 2 year old, amd a 6 month old. I maintained a 4.0 GPA my entire career at Millikin University. This was gratifying to me because I did this while being a mom to 3 amd working as a substitute teacher regularly. I am now a first year teacher in a second grade classroom in Clinton Illinois. Setting up first classroom has be very financially straining for family. I have been fortunate to afford alpt of classroom needs, but I still have a lost of its that would benefit my students. Having support to finish off my list would be a blessing that both myself and my students would greatly apperciate. Thank you for your consideration.

Fischer School - Grade 4 Dual Language - View her photo - Nomination Reason: Sybil has filled numerous, high-need positions at Fischer School. This year she is moving from a Resource position to a classroom position. She will need many items and books to make the classroom come together as she wants. I worked with Sybil as her Instructional Coach for many years. Her dedication to her students is amazing. During Covid remote teaching she would be available to parents and students well beyond the work day. The last year has been incredibly challenging for this amazing teacher and she so deserves this assistance. There is no doubt in my mind her students will benefit greatly. Thank you for considering her for this award.
ALSO—
Conrad Fischer Elementary Grades K-5 - Nomination Reason:: One of the most dedicated and patient teachers I know. She spends as much time out of school preparing lessons for children as she does in the classroom presenting those lessons. Most of the students she works with do not speak English as a first language and she takes the time to learn their native languages to better engage and inform those students. She is constantly participating in running extracurricular activities all while being a union representative and assisting her fellow teachers in HR matters. I don’t know how she does it all and somehow manages to keep a healthy social life at the same time, but she does and does it well!

Sunnyside Intermediate - Grade 4 - Nomination Reason: Pam is coming to teaching as a second career after raising her two sons. She started off as a lunch supervisor at their school and then started subbing in a nearby district. She became much sought after and requested. At that time, after a few conversations with people she decided to go back to school to get her teaching certificate. She will be starting her first year in 4th grade and $500 would go a long way in setting up her classroom.

Deaneen Elementary - Grade Kindergarten - (View photo of Nakeya Smith HERE )
Nomination Reason: Ms. Smith is an excellent teacher. I’m very privileged to have worked by her side; she’s gentle, kind, warm hearted, and passionate about children and their education. I saw her in action doing presentations and teaching students. She’s very prompt and dependable. She is branching out and will now have her own personal classroom and students. She’s a winner and the children are blessed to have her. -
Creekside Elementary - Grade 5 - Nomination Reason: Jenny goes above and beyond for her students. She is going into her 22 year of teaching. She has her Masters in Special Education along with being General Education teacher. She works with all children, including those with behavior problems. Students write about how much they learn and from her and how kind and compassionate she is to everyone. Jenny takes her time making sure everyone understands before moving on, and she works individually with those who need aid. She gives her all while also raising a high schooler, 7th grader, and a 4th grader. Her work day consists of seven days a week preparing and having extra work for kids who need the help. She never gives herself enough credit for what she does and the importance she brings and gives to all the students she teaches.
